Policies outlining the library's commitment to providing resources, instruction, and support to enhance the information literacy skills of our users.

Assessments by Major/Program

Objective: This information literacy assessment aims to measure the effectiveness of the information literacy instruction provided to students pursuing an Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies. The assessment will seek to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities for improvement to meet the needs of the students better.

Methodology:

  1. Pre- and Post-Tests: Pre- and post-tests will be administered to students to measure their information literacy skills at the beginning and end of their program. The tests will measure students' ability to locate, evaluate, and effectively use information sources and understand citation and plagiarism.

  2. Student Surveys: Surveys will be conducted to gather feedback from students about their experiences with the information literacy instruction provided. The surveys will focus on students' satisfaction with the instruction and the perceived value of the skills taught.

  3. Faculty Feedback: Faculty members who incorporate information literacy instruction into their courses will be asked to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the instruction and the areas where students may need further support.

Data Analysis and Reporting: Data collected from the various assessment methods will be analyzed, and a report will be generated summarizing the findings. The report will include recommendations for improvements to information literacy instruction and strategies to better meet students' needs. The report will be shared with faculty, library staff, and relevant campus stakeholders to inform decision-making and guide improvements to the information literacy instruction provided.
